The Book I Didn't Know I Was Writing

I didn't set out to write a memoir.

I set out to survive a stroke.

That's where this started — not at a desk, not with a plan, not with any idea that what was happening to me was something I'd eventually hand to strangers and say here, this is mine, this is real, this happened. It started in a hospital bed with half my body not cooperating and a brain that kept insisting there were words somewhere if I could just get to them.

So I wrote.

Not because I'm brave. Because I didn't know what else to do with it.

What Probably Nothing actually is

It's the story of a stroke most doctors initially dismissed. It's insurance denials and legal walls and a system that is very good at making sick people feel like the problem is them. It's what happens to your identity when your body suddenly becomes something you don't recognize. It's fear. It's fury. It's the specific dark humor that shows up when things get bad enough that laughing is the only sane response.

And it's survival. Not the clean kind. The real kind.

The kind where you're still in the middle of it and you decide to write it down anyway because maybe someone else needs to know they're not alone in this.

Why now

Because the fight isn't over for a lot of people.

Insurance denials. Medical gaslighting. The exhaustion of having to prove you're sick while you're busy being sick. These aren't just my story. They're happening every day to people who don't have the words yet or the platform or the fight left in them.

I have all three. Barely. But enough.

Probably Nothing: A Beautiful Wreckage releases April 10th.

This one cost me something to write. I hope it gives something back to whoever needs it.
